On 6-7 May, LIFT members interested in validity and good research practice met for two days in Uppsala, Sweden, together with keynote speakers (Irena Czycholl, Georgia Mason and Hanno Würbel). The aim was to make progress on one of the outcomes of WG2: a code of good research practice. The meeting was chaired by Linda Keeling (SLU) and Laura Webb (WUR), leader and co-leader of WG2 respectively.
On day 1, participants brainstormed in Krusenberg and spent the night there. On the second day, the participants travelled to the SLU campus in Uppsala. The group had very fruitful discussions and brainstorming sessions, using different formats such as break-out groups and world café style discussion rounds. After the first day, there was a consensus to create a pre-registration template for animal welfare researchers and other researchers working with animals. This template will also be very useful for training students and researchers in good research practice by providing a variety of resources and examples. On day 2, the group started with a rough draft of the template and participants were asked to provide further feedback after the meeting.
